Danish apartment in Cannes

Home to Nicolai Suhr and his wife Juliet, this beautifully and truly Scandinavian jewel is actually located in Cannes, France. The high ceiling makes this space vibrates with all the warm natural light of the French coast: the contrast among the black pieces and the white walls and furniture is bold and strong here. I'm in love with the massive painting int living room. The only pity is you cannot really get how the transaction between the wooden floor and the kitchen tiles works.
The couple is also the owner of Style Junkie, considered one of the top 10 fashion boutiques in the Mediterranean area (bohemian rock star style shop that can count Kate Moss among its customers).

fnwg #1st birthday

Today facing north with gracia celebrates its very first birthday. One year ago I decided to open this blog with the idea of finding inspiration about how to decorate our new home: it was supposed to be a collection of things I liked. FNWG became also a blessing and worked as sweet balsam helping me to get through one of the hardest moments of my life by keeping "happily occupied".
Honestly, when I wrote my "On cloud 9" post, I would have never thought I was actually beginning a new adventure that has brought to me lots of happy moments, beautiful people and totally unexpected scenarios.
I want to say thanks to moa and _holmberg from Sign magazine; Montse from Intsight; Indre, Tim Adani and Llamas Valley for their interview, and Anna Gustafsson of La Maison d'Anna G for being my very first sponsor. A very special thanks goes to my D., who is patient and caring accepting to "share me" with the blog!

I thank you all for being part of this: to know there are so many like-minded people out there makes me feel very "warm" inside.

Later on today I will announce the name of the winner of the Playtype giveaway: stay tuned.

Åhlens magazine

Petra Bindel meets Emma Persson Lagerberg, again and the result cannot be nothing less than gorgeous. The photographs are taken for Åhlens magazine: I especially like these warm tones, they are perfect to announce the arrival of autumn. To see more of their works, check here.

Cabbage chair by Nendo

Cabbage chair is a design by Japanese Nendo that dates back to 2008. At a first look, it appears extremely far to they most renowned designs (the "wire" pieces) but, even if the aesthetics of this chiar looks opulent, the design process shows the same clarity and minimal approach as all the other works. Nendo designed the cabbage chair for XXIst Century Man exhibition curated by Issey Miyake to commemorate the first anniversary of 21_21 Design Sight in Roppongi, Tokyo.
Miyake asked to create a piece of furniture out of the pleated paper that is produced in mass amounts during the process of making pleated fabric, and usually abandoned. Nendo accpeted the challenge and transformed a roll of pleated paper into a small chair that appears naturally as you peel away its outside layers, one layer at a time: the chair could be shipped as one compact roll for the user to cut open and peel back at home.

Wrong for Hay

The London Design Festival has been chosen as the international platform to launch WRONG FOR HAY, the new venture of Danish design company HAY and London-design based Sebastian Wrong. Wrong is well known as the design development director of Established & Sons, the British design company that he co-founded in 2005. The collection includes furniture, accessories, textiles and lighting, with pieces designed by an international and diverse group of designer, such as Bertjan Pot, Stefan Diez, Anderssen & Voll, as well as in-house ones. I'm thrilled with the new lighting products, especially Noc Clip light by Smith Mathias or Pion Light by Pot. My wishlist has just got a bit bigger in order to include the Bread Bin, the Lens Boxes and the Calendar. I'm curious to see how this Scandinavian essential mood merges with the eclectic London style.

White kitchen by Lokal 54

I have just found these images via Stil Inspiration blog: they are taken by Vedum new catalogue and beautifully styled by Swedish duo Sofie Lawett of Lokal 54. It really feels like everything has been spray painted and frozen.

Ylva Skarp new works

A few days ago I saw some pictures in Ylva Skarp's instagram feed: new works are now available on her shop. Ylva is a talented Swedish calligraphy artist and designer that uses words to create images or - as she herself states - "bringing letters to life". Her Happy Days calendar is now again in my kitchen and I keep surprising  every morning I turn a new page.
For her last collection of works, Ylva decided to pair with interior stylist and designer Annaleena Leino: today's pictures are part of this great collaboration.

Breaking news

I was trying to get an update about all the things I lost during these crazy weeks by checking some of my favourite blogs and websites. I clicked on my saved link "Agentbauer/LottaAgaton" and an empty page opened: "Oh my! Something big is going on" I thought. So, I checked my favourite interior stylist's blog and discovered she announced the beginning of a new cycle with a new agency: new portfolio will be launched this week. I'm thrilled!
But this is not the breaking news, at least to me and to some of you, dearest friends - sorry Lotta! The thing is she is about to lunch a three months pop up webshop! Oh yes.
Our dreams have finally come true and my finance will get in a very bad taste very soon...

September by Elle Decoration Uk

September is here as it is the end of summer. We had very crazy "un-holidays" this time, with lots of unexpected work coming up in Italy and some not so good news from our family. So I feel I'm entitled of giving myself as many treats as possible, starting today with this beautiful home featured in the September issue of Elle Decoration UK
But this is going to be just the beginning: I have lots of news about the blog I will share with you in the next days. And one big big treat my husband and I are giving ourselves: yesterday we booked the tickets to fly to Iceland this Friday!
I know, it sounds a bit crazy but we both could not think of anything better to relax and rest then natural geothermal pools and breathtaking scenery. Plus, thanks to lovely Emma of Emma Designblogg (many, many thanks again Emma!), we got some great tips on how to get the best out of our days in Reykjavik. It will be a short trip but, on the way back, we'll stop for two days in London and visit Petersham Nurseries, a must among gardenholics like myself. So keep tuned in with my Instagram account to know more!
